Director's Message

Ralph Martin, Founding Director of the OACCWelcome - I am pleased that you have chosen to visit our web site for organic agriculture research and education. We want you to be successful in your searches for information on our site and we want you to enjoy your browsing. Let us know if you have questions and how we can serve you better.

The Organic Agriculture Centre of Canada is an initiative in research and education, of which Canadians can be proud. The staff at OACC are an energetic team with academic rigour and high enthusiasm for our mission. Farmers and students are especially important to us. We want to help you realize the enormous opportunity to participate in organic farming, in full or in part, as many of us in agriculture move to sustainable farming systems.

The task of converting to organic agriculture is large, but the organizations and people willing to meet the challenge are many. The creativity and energy are in evidence when people get together to discuss organic agriculture. OACC can contribute scientific research and education, and others will contribute in numerous ways. There is an abundance of human and natural resources to be respectfully engaged. Respect for soil, plants, animals, air and water are an important part of respect for people and the planet - we can all work together on it.

We appreciate your interest in organic agriculture and in our web site.

Ralph C. Martin, Ph.D., P.Ag.,
