Meeting Place Organic FarmHuron County, Ontario
Early June in the cucumber hoophouse shows more mesclun (lettuce) mix than cucumbers yet. But they have been transplanted under the orange strings and will soon start to climb them. Sweet potatoes are planted in ridges behind the lettuce bed. The doors at the end of this hoophouse are screened to prevent striped cucumber beetle problems. So everything in it must not need insect pollination. The cucumber variety is Diva, a new parthenocarpic variety, which does not require pollination to form cucumbers.
