Guilford's Organic Seed & FeedClearwater, Manitoba
This is the same flax and hay field as pictured earlier. The purple/blue flowers are the flax and the yellow ones are wild mustard. There is also a smattering of alfalfa plants that survived this springs tillage efforts. I’m really pleased with this field of flax. It’s interesting how most of the mustard is actually shorter than the flax except in the low area in the background where it did create more competition for the flax. We got about 3000 pounds of hay/acre off of the first cut of alfalfa. The second cut won’ t amount to too much though, given the hot dry weather. |
