Margaret
Savard
OACC Office Coordinator
My devotion to organic foodstuffs developed from an effort to secure
the well-being of my children. In 2001 I began an intensive neurological
program on my son, who has special needs. One of the main tenets of this
program is to provide the child with robust health so that its effects
are not disrupted through time lost because of illness. So, I learned
to blanch naturally-grown vegetables and cook using organic foodstuffs.
The health benefits of eating organically were immediately evident, for
all members of the family.
Born in Springhill, Nova Scotia, I have lived in Quebec, New Brunswick
and Ontario before returning to my native Nova Scotia. I received a Bachelor
of Arts in English literature from Acadia University. My experience ranges
from supervising a manufacturing department to managing communications,
public relations and research and analysis projects for an international
company. I look forward to sharing my skills and energy as the Administrative
Assistant with the Organic Agriculture Centre of Canada (OACC) in the
hopes that organic nutrition can become easily accessible to all.
