Farm Manager(s) Wanted
Dancing Lady Farm, Bridgewater, NS
Dancing Lady Farm has been a mixed vegetable farm for about 7 years
(formerly NSOGA certified organic) and is located 12 minutes from Bridgewater,
N.S. on a lovely drumlin hilltop. There are a couple of hundred acres
of woods and a river and lake on the property. Of the eighteen acres
that are cleared on the hilltop, there are about 5 acres that have been
cultivated with a chicken house, small orchard, and a greenhouse.
I am now seeking someone, or more likely a couple or number of individuals,
to take over the farming responsibilities for this upcoming growing
season and beyond. There is a strawbale studio building complete with
kitchen and washroom and sleeping loft that would be available for accommodation.
We have a wind generator, solar panels and an inter-tie with NS Power.
The long term plan is to continue to grow the property with its existing
barn and workshop space and large strawbale farmhouse, into a retreat/learning
centre that can accommodate groups and individuals interested in the
arts and in sustainable living skills.
We have a small Waldorf School nearby, a number of vibrant farmer's
markets, interest in a CSA sort of operation, as well as the potential
to feed workshop participants for events held on the farm itself.
Interest and experience in Biodynamic and Permaculture methods would
be a wonderful addition to this farm.
I am presently looking for people who already have solid hands-on experience
in farming, although once that piece of the puzzle is in place, we will
be looking for apprentices and people who are less experienced but interested
in learning more about farming skills.
