
Claude Berthélémé, P.Ag.
Claude is the Organic Production Development Specialist with the New Brunswick Department of Agriculture, Aquaculture and Fisheries (NBDAAF). Claude a native of New Brunswick, attended the Université de Moncton and then the Université Laval where he received his bachelor’s degree in Crop Sciences. He is a professional agrologist and a member of the New Brunswick Institute of Agrology.
Claude started his career with the NBDAAF in 1987, serving as a Regional Field Crop Specialist with occasional responsibilities as a Regional Livestock Specialist. Since 2000, Claude has been located in Fredericton where he has been actively involved in organic extension services, policy issues and programming. His areas of expertise include field crop production, cover crops, soil and nutrient management and intensive grazing management. More recently, he has been working with organic maple syrup producers and has been actively involved in the development of the National Organic Aquaculture Standards. He works with all components of the New Brunswick Organic Sector including organic producers/processors, the Atlantic Canadian Organic Regional Network (ACORN) as well as with other provincial organic specialists from across Canada.
